Weekend in Virginia Beach

This weekend, we went to Virginia Beach as a family. This is the beach where Chris proposed to me 3.5 years ago. It's still pretty early in the summer season for the beach to be warm, but we had a great trip! It was fun to bring our family to such a special place for us. We rented a beach house with our friends Brooke and Scott Baxter. They were also on the beach trip where Chris proposed. They are really easy going and love our kids, so it made our vacation even more relaxing for us.

Kyle spent most of his time at the beach being wrapped in a towel in a way that would block the wind. He just hung out or took a nap. What a sweetie.

I dug a hole in the sand for Wendy. She wasn't very impressed.

Scott dug a much deeper hole for Wendy. She still wasn't a big fan.

Wendy is definitely a water baby. She doesn't love playing in the sand, but the water was really cold the first day. So she settled for putting sand into the bucket and taking it out.

Brooke and Scott took some family pictures for us. It's a two-person job. One person behind the camera and one person to get Wendy to smile.

The second day, we jumped waves. Once she got in the water, she decided it was worth the cold water. She loved it and tried to pull dad farther into the ocean.

We had a bit of wind from the ocean, so Chris built a wind shelter and took a nap.

Kyle talking a bit before his nap. He got pretty chilly the first day, so we left his sweater on for the second day. This boy loves to be warm.

We came back out to the beach after dinner to check on our holes and the tide levels.

Kyle needed a bath after his day in the sand. He's a little big for the sink.

Wendy was a little nervous walking on the sand at first. So, she just pulled everyone around till they got tired of it and she moved on to the next willing adult. Pretty cute homemade skirt! ;)

Wendy got some good air when her daddy threw her in the air. She LOVED it!!

Then she found some sticks on the beach to break apart.

What a fun vacation!! We love the beach!
